Lady Baltimore Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream
America’s 250th birthday called for something equally special: a three-tier cake created for the official U.S. 250th anniversary celebration in Berlin. This tier, a classic Lady Baltimore Cake, is a Southern specialty with roots reaching back over a century — a fitting tribute for such a milestone. Packed with American pecans, walnuts, dried cherries and raisins, and rounded out with honey and vanilla, it’s a rich, fruit-studded layer worth the effort.
Recipe by Cynthia Barcomi, renowned American baker based in Berlin.
