Mother’s Day is all about showing moms how much they are appreciated and loved. In many families, it is tradition to let mom kick up her feet and relax, be served delicious food and spend quality time with everyone. It is not uncommon for the children to take over the kitchen and prepare either breakfast in bed or a more elaborate brunch. The beauty in having a brunch is that it can be enjoyed around the table with the entire family and provides the opportunity to go all out!

So, how do you plan a perfect Mother’s Day Brunch? For starters, make sure you have her favorite morning drink. Whether it is a hot cup of coffee, a nicely brewed tea, fresh orange juice, or a fruity smoothie, bringing mom her favorite drink is not only a nice gesture, but also gives you more time to prepare the food in the kitchen. If you know that mom always likes trying something new, you can get creative with special lattes such as the Almond Beet Iced Latte. Vibrant and smooth, this latte variation not only tastes great, but looks beautiful with it’s deep red beet color.

Next up are the brunch dishes. The benefit of preparing brunch is that you don’t have to choose between savory and sweet. You can go for a variety of different recipes. The breakfast classics, like pancakes, eggs, and bacon, are one way to go. However, brunch allows for some creativity and flavor exploration.

Instead of the usual scrambled eggs, why not try the Baked Eggs Alaska with Wild Alaska Pink Salmon? Made with delicious Alaska Pink Salmon, this recipe brings breakfast eggs to a whole other level. This flavorful and savory dish is made to impress!

Another satisfying dish to consider is the Potato, Black Bean, & Swiss Chard Hash. Made with potatoes, beans, veggies and spices, this hearty meal is ideal for sharing with the family.

Is mom a fan of beans for breakfast?

Then chances are, she will love the California-Style breakfast of Beans & Eggs. Simple, yet full of flavor, the bean mixture can be nicely served on a platter with eggs, avocado, orange and flour tortillas. For an extra kick, make sure to provide some yummy salsa.

Beans aside, there are also plenty of small and sweet recipes that really make a brunch stand out. Freshly cut fruit, such as Florida Grapefruit or Washington Apples, are always a great addition to the brunch table. A super easy, but adorable idea for brunch is Chocolate-Dipped Fresh Grapes. All you have to do is grab your favorite red or green California Grapes and dip them in melted chocolate. You can mix and match with white, milk, or dark chocolate. Add orange zest if desired! Allow for the chocolate to harden and enjoy the sweet treat.

Another bite-sized dish that helps decorate the table are Cucumber Bites with Brie and Florida Grapefruit. Drizzled with honey, this sweet and savory side combines a variety of flavors with the help of refreshing Florida Grapefruit and cucumbers, creamy Brie cheese, peppery Arugula, buttery American Pecans and naturally sweet California Raisins. This light platter is a nice way to add another dish to your brunch without much effort.

If your mother has a sweet tooth, then waffles, pancakes or french toast are always a good option. Want to surprise her with something familiar, but with a twist? The One Pan Breakfast Banana Cake turns the common stack of pancakes into a beautiful cake. Served with a warm, homemade almond sauce and a dollop of your favorite yogurt, this caramelized banana cake is a great way to elevate the beloved pancake.

Overall, baked goods are a great way to complete the brunch table. You could add a small basket of bread rolls with jam or some freshly baked muffins.

Pecan and Peach Yogurt Muffins are delightful in every way, combining sweet peach with buttery pecan. Want to go the extra mile and make a cake? Then grab a bundt pan and make a light and moist Lemon Pound Cake

Once the food and drinks are ready, the last thing to do is to set the table. If you want your brunch to be a bit more festive, why not add some colorful napkins or a bouquet of flowers?

At the end of the day, brunch is all about picking and choosing from a variety of recipes. You can decide what and how many dishes go on the table based on what you think mom will like best. There is no right or wrong way to prepare a Mother’s Day brunch, it’s the effort that counts!
